Beyonce hemmed in by corset of rules
October 3, 2007
Beyonce Knowles, who has among her fashion favourites the corset belt, has axed plans to play her first ever concert in Malaysia, because of strict rules on what she can wear onstage.
The singer is known for her sexy style, wearing slinky dresses, revealing outfits and the sexiest of all items in her wardrobe a metal corset belt, which she wore on the red carpet this year.
But it seems the star was not happy to comply with the Malaysian government's rules, which state that females must cover their bodies from shoulders to knees while performing onstage.
A source said: "It's also beyond the dressing. She has to change the show. Basically, the ministry wants her to stand in front of the microphone and open her mouth - just sing and she cannot move."
Now, because of Malaysia's corset of rules, the singer has canned her planned Kuala Lumpur gig and will instead perform in Indonesian city Jakarta, which is more liberal.
This news comes after Gwen Stefani, who does wear a corset onstage, performed a show in August, despite protests from Muslim fundamentalists.
