Billie waxes lyrical on the wonders of a corset
March 16, 2007
Actress Billie Piper has been talking about the benefits of wearing a corset.
The former Doctor Who star has been wearing a corset for her latest television role, in period drama Mansfield Park. The adaptation of the Jane Austen classic sees Billie starring alongside Blake Ritson in the much-loved story and had to wear a corset for the part.
"The beauty of the corset is that you can see your breasts for the first time," she told the Metro, explaining that the garment really gave her an impressive body shape.
However, while modern corsets can provide the same hourglass figure, they tend to be far more comfortable than the ones worn in Austen's time.
Indeed, Piper herself admitted that she is not too keen to do another period drama in the near future, saying: "The novelty of wearing corsets lasts for all of five hours."
But the former popster would no doubt find today's variants far more appealing, offering her the chance to show off her body as well as providing a far more comfortable experience than could be found in the ITV period costume department.
