Birthday girl Madonna to tour?
September 26, 2007
It could be that Madonna fans will see what the star looks like in a corset at the age of 50, after there have been rumours that Madonna will embark on a new world tour next year.
According to the New York Post, the corset fan is planning to celebrate her 50th birthday in August 2008 with a new world tour entitled Madonna At 50.
It would mark the first series of live dates since the 50-gig Confessions tour, and should the godmother of pop appear in a corset, fans would still expect her to look as fit as ever, given her extremely strict diet and exercise regime.
This news comes as sources say that the singer is set to jettison her record label in favour of a company which can promote more concerts, as there is more money in touring than releasing albums.
The newspaper reports that she will sign a $100 million deal with Live Nation, dumping Warner Music, her label for the last 25 years.
"This is a sign of the times," an insider said. "At this stage Madonna she stands to make more money from touring - $260 million on her last tour - than releasing records. So she wants to go with a company that can look after both rather than being tied to a record company."
Madonna has also been named the third top grossing music act of 2007 by Forbes magazine, behind only The Rolling Stones and Jay-Z.
