Corset artwork takes centre stage
March 8, 2007
A new piece of art involving a corset is the centrepiece of a new exhibition of art in the US.
The World Palette exhibition held by the Association of International Relations (AIR) in Western has taken a corset representing women's issues as the event's "piece de resistance", according to the Western Gazette.
Its actually sewn in leather. There are words to describe women, like mother, [and] sister," explained the president of AIR, Keith Chau.
The show is bringing together artworks from around the world and is designed to raise money for Amnesty International.
Mr Chau added: "We used the exhibition as our own palette to build a perspective of different cultures and different parts of the world."
It is hoped that the event can become an annual exhibition, although whether corsets will have such an important part in the future remains to be seen.
