Corset confusing Cate Blanchett's kids?
October 24, 2007
You might have thought that dressing up in an old-fashioned corset for months on end while filming a period drama would have put an actress off wearing one for a while; but not Cate Blanchett, who turned up to promote her latest movie in a corset dress.
At Tuesday's London premiere of Elizabeth: The Golden Age in London Ms Blanchett sauntered down the red carpet in an iridescent body-hugging off-the-shoulder corset dress which sparkled as she moved. She accessorised her corset dress only with a bracelet and had curled her hair for the occasion.
The Australian actress wore a range of corsets and garments created by an Oscar award-winning costume designer on the set of Elizabeth, and it appears that she got a taste for being laced in.
However, it seems that by continuing to wear corsets and fabulous dresses while not filming, Cate has somewhat confused her two young sons.
Five-year-old Dashiell and three-year-old Roman find it challenging to figure out that their mother is not the characters she plays on screen.
Cate told Bang Showbiz: "It's really difficult for them to differentiate between fantasy and reality, but I think that hopefully they are starting to learn that now."
Other actresses who have worn a corset while playing Queen Elizabeth include Sarah Bernhardt, Bette Davis, Glenda Jackson and Dame Helen.
