Corset fan Kylie's voice rented out
October 15, 2007
Although corset fans will be able to catch Kylie Minogue in a West End production soon, she will not be appearing in a corset - in fact she won't be appearing at all!
Kylie has agreed to record her voice for the rock musical Rent, although she won't be appearing onstage.
According to the BBC, the pop star has recorded six different answerphone messages which will be used during the show. However that it is the voice of the pop princess will be an insider secret that most of the audience won't be aware of, as her voice has been digitally altered to make her sound like a man.
Ms Minogue's close friend and creative collaborator William Baker directs the musical, and it seems the idea started out as a show of support for her pal.
Ewan Thomson, a spokesman for Duke of York Theatre, told the BBC: "It started off as very much an 'in' thing between Kylie and William Baker, and it was a great way to get her involved in a small way.
"It is great to have Kylie on board, and she was very kind to agree to do it."
However corset fans need not be disappointed as they will certainly get the chance to see Denise Van Outen perform in a corset as bisexual performance artist Maureen.
And Kylie fans who are attending Monday's opening night should keep their eyes peeled as the star is expected to make an appearance in the audience.
