Corset fan to star in Mata Hari flick?
September 3, 2007
In an exclusive bit of news, the Telegraph has reported that corset fan Dita von Teese may play Mata Hari in a film biopic about the exotic dancer and alleged spy's life.
The 34-year-old is being tipped to take the starring role in a film about the Dutch courtesan.
A friend of the corset star told the Telegraph: "Dita has been in talks with Martha Fiennes, who is directing the film, and she is really enthusiastic about the part.
"They met for lunch the other day to discuss the role in more detail."
Ms von Teese does hold some comparisons with the enigmatic woman, who has been lauded as bringing exotic dance into favour, as the burlesque beauty has been credited with the revival of the corset and her genre of entertainment.
Her friend also added that she is "fascinated" by Mata Hari, whose life has already been portrayed by Doris Day, Sylvia Kristel and Zsa Zsa Gabor.
