'Corset Kate' emotional about Oscars
February 3, 2009
Kate Winslet, who became known as 'Corset Kate' after receiving her first Oscar nomination aged just 22 for her role in Sense and Sensibility, says that she is feeling "emotional" about the forthcoming Academy Awards.
Winslet, who made her name playing period roles, has been nominated for six Oscars throughout her career but is yet to win one.
This year, she has been nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for her role in The Reader.
After making a gushing acceptance speech when she won two Golden Globe awards last month, Winslet admits that she finds it hard to control her emotions at red carpet events.
"I get very emotional about these things, I discover. I think I'm not cut out for this. I'm too emotional to lose, and I'm too emotional to win," she explained.
"I sort of wish there was some lessons in how to cope with awards seasons, even though I've gone through it so many times before. It always feels like the first time."
