Corset straightens Anderson out for the Ashes
October 11, 2006
Jimmy Anderson is set to make his return to the England cricket team for the Ashes in November, thanks to a corset.
The Lancashire fast bowler suffered a stress fracture in his back during a one-day test in India last winter, just days after his stunning performance helped secure victory in the Third Test. However, wearing a corset for six weeks has helped his back to recover.
"I've worked hard in the gym and not felt a thing. In the back of my mind, I wondered what it would be like when I started bowling but my back has been fine, he said.
His return to the England team for the Ashes, which kicks off on November 23rd, marks the end of a frustrating year for Anderson, with his injury preventing him from playing just as his form reached its peak.
"It has been the most frustrating time I have had as a cricketer, having to just watch the guys on TV and not be able to do much."
Nevertheless, he said that he feels he has improved as a bowler and, thanks to his corset, is fully fit and ready to go.
"Technically I'm a very similar bowler but mentally I am much better. I feel more experienced now," he confirmed.
