Corset used to enhance Bonham Carter
July 16, 2007
Helena Bonham Carter has revealed that far from leaving her corset days behind her, the actress has used a corset to enhance her role in the latest Harry Potter film.
Although best known for her corseted roles in period dramas such as Howard's End, Ms Bonham Carter has created a style for her villainous role as Bellatrix Lestrange using a corset.
In a documentary for ITV, she points to her cleavage, which is boosted by a corset and says: "These aren't mine. Well, the top bits obviously are. My idea was that from about six feet away, she looks quite attractive. But from a foot, it all falls apart."
But it seems that the actress chose the wrong manufacturer, as she said her corset was rather uncomfy. "It's really horrible because I sweat so much. I knew it was going to be hot so I had these air holes and because I wanted her to be sexy, I thought it'd be good to have a bit of flesh on display," she said.
Just before viewers can catch Helena in a corset on the big screen, avid corset or Carter fans can watch Harry Potter: A Costume Drama on ITV1. Other revelations about the cast's costumes are also made, including the fact that Daniel Radcliffe wore padded shorts for the scenes where he rides a broomstick, for protection purposes.
