Corsets abound during female's fertile period
November 9, 2006
Women are more likely to wear corsets and generally dress more sexily during their ovulation period, new research has claimed.
A research team from UCLA and the University of Wisconsin found that women are more flirtatious and dress more attractively during their ovulation period than they do during less fertile periods of their menstrual cycle.
Published in the journal Hormones and Behavior, researchers photographed 30 female students during periods when they were fertile and when they were not.
These photos were then shown to 42 male and female judges and asked to decide which of the two was most attractive.
In 60 per cent of cases the picture taken during the subject's fertile period was deemed to be the most attractive, far more frequently that could have occurred by chance.
Humans are one of the few primates to exhibit no outward signs of fertility, leading researchers to suspect that women's greater attractiveness during their most fertile period is the result of a subliminal desire to attract a mate.
So next time you strap on your corset make sure it doesn't come off without protection, as the chances are you are at your most fertile.
