Corsets are out at VMAs
September 10, 2007
Pop star Rihanna was looking stunning in a hot pink corset dress when she stepped onto the red carpet at this year's MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.
Her corset dress was not the only successful decision for the singer that night, as she also picked up two awards. Rihanna's track, Umbrella, which features Jay-Z, picked up the prize for Video Of The Year and Monster Single Of The Year.
Umbrella was the longest running UK number one of the decade, holding the top spot for ten weeks.
Actress Megan Fox also arrived at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas in a pink dress with a corset top, although she was there to introduce Justin Timberland's performance.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears looked like she could have benefited from a corset, as performing only in underwear, she was displaying a bit of a paunch on her supposed big comeback. The troubled pop star's performance also lacked energy and at points Spears forgot the words she was supposed to be miming.
In an ironic twist, it emerges that Umbrella was originally written for Britney Spears. According to WENN, the hit song's writer, Tricky Stewart, said he had saved the song for Britney, but her representatives never replied to his messages.
