Corsets cook up trouble at V & A
September 19, 2007
As the Victoria and Albert Museum celebrated the opening of its exhibition, 'The Golden Age of Couture Paris and London, 1947-1957' in West London a pair of corseted creations caused a bit of a stir.
Model and socialite Jemima Khan was the latest celebrity to appear in a ten-inch metal corset belt, but it was claimed that she had lost the key.
The 33-year-old could have been in even more trouble as Liz Hurley was also at the party. The two have not seen eye-to-eye in the past, as they have both had relationships with Hugh Grant, although insiders insisted the museum was large enough that the girls were able to avoid a catfight.
Perhaps we may be seeing a corset wedding dress as it has been rumoured that Khan is set to marry the British actor in 2008. A source told the Mirror: "Hugh and Jemima have had their ups and downs. But they're the happiest they've been in a long time. They both feel that the time is right for them to make that commitment to each other.
"He's really busy - that's why they've decided to get married in 2008. Jemima is not complaining - it gives her time to make sure their wedding is perfect."
Meanwhile a corset dress caused eyebrows to raise at the gala event. Voluptuous TV chef Nigella Lawson could barely contain her ample assets in her low-cut velvet corset dress, although none of the men present really seemed to mind.
