Corsets in kinky costume showdown
July 20, 2007
While The Rocky Horror Show has been broadcast all around the world, a recent showing in Memphis inspired a costume contest full of corsets.
After the Orpheum theatre screened the show as part of its summer season, it held a competition for the best costume based on a character from the show or a kinky style .
While 30 men and 30 women, with both genders appearing in corsets, mimiced Rocky Horror characters, the winner of last year's competition, who is supposed to be Dr Frank-N-Furter, hosted proceedings.
Kate Hackett, executive assistant to Orpheum president and CEO Pat Halloran, told the Memphis Flier, the event gave people "a good reason to get together and have a fun time. People can get their 'freak' on!"
Kat Sacco, a participant who is dressed as Magenta, with a white bow around her neck and black fishnets said: "I'm absolutely in love with this movie because it's so open-minded. I like dressing up, but I'm too old for Halloween."
