Corsets see exposure in Rochdale
July 10, 2007
Due to the renewed popularity of burlesque entertainment since Nicole Kidman donned a corset in Moulin Rouge, entertainment events organiser, Exposure World, has seen a lot more demand for corseted performances.
Based in Rochdale and set up seven years ago by dancer Laura Copeland, the business handles around 250 performers and is a leading supplier to the late-night entertainment industry.
And now Exposure World has just signed a lucrative deal with Smirnoff, of which burlesque enjoys a big part. Recent events have even seen a giant champagne glass built for routines similar to the one that corseted icon Dita von Teese performs.
While organising one-off events, these are fully-costumed and themed. Along with the burlesque performers on their books, the company also provides magicians, snake-handlers, drag queens and stilt-walkers.
"We're doing more corporate packages - and we've put together entertainment packages which you can buy off-the-shelf," Ms Copeland told the Manchester Evening News.
"There's an urban package called Maximum Headroom, which includes break-dancers and trial bikers, and a traditional show girl package, Moulin Rouge-themed, for corporate events."
