Dame Judi dons Victorian corset
June 10, 2009
Dame Judi Dench has proved that age is no barrier when it comes to wearing a corset.
The actress has been photographed back in a Victorian corset for her role as Matty Jenkyns in BBC1 drama Cranford.
Dame Judi has continued to work despite being way past retirement age, recently finishing a run in London's West End playing Madame de Sade.
Cranford sees Dame Judi returning to the medium which she was initially best known for - television.
She was shooting the period drama's Christmas special, the Sun reports, in Lacock in Wiltshire.
A corset is not the only period clothing that she wears in the show - her character is well known for wearing a Victorian bonnet also.
Dame Judi won an Oscar in 1999 for best supporting actress in Shakespeare in Love and since has gone on to be nominated four times for playing parts in Mrs Henderson Presents, Chocolat and Notes on a Scandal.
