Designers promote 'corsets for men'
June 5, 2007
The latest trend in men's fashion is the vest, which one designer explains, acts in the same way as a corset does for ladies, creating s toned torso.
Designer Tom Ford, who used to have the role of Gucci's creative director, told the Wall Street Journal: "A vest is like a corset for a guy. They can make the body look really good and hold everything in."
Tommy Fazio, Bergdorf Goodman's men's fashion director, added: "They're great because you can take your jacket off and still look properly dressed for business."
Among others jumping on the trend for tailored vests are Bottega Veneta, John Varvatos and Dries Van Noten.
Vests can be worn alone or as part of a three-piece suit and, the designers claim, be worn in all seasons.
