Dita teases Manchester with tartan corset
July 3, 2007
Burlesque superstar, Dita von Teese may hail from the US but she showed some Scottish style when she appeared at a media event in Manchester dressed in a tartan corset.
Around 300 fans turned up at Selfridges in Manchester's city centre to see the star promote the Mac cosmetic company's Viva Glam lipstick and sign copies of her Viva Glam posters.
While Dita posed in her black and white tartan corset, many fans of her burlesque act also dressed up like von Teese in1940s-style pencil skirts and corset-tops.
Dita, told the Manchester Evening News: "There's nothing I like more than meeting my fans and I'm so proud of everyone in the city today for coming out to see me. There are so many pretty girls in Manchester and they tell me there's a real underground burlesque scene here."
Corset fan and dancer Emma Edwards was first in line for an autograph from von Teese. She said: "We asked Dita when she was coming to dance in Manchester because we'd love it if she came back. She said she hoped to soon."
So hopefully the British Isles could see more corset action in the near future, if Ms von Teese was enamoured by our shores. But in the meantime, she is heading for Paris for a fashion show.
