Dita Von Teese lets loose on her love of corsets
November 28, 2006
Dita Von Teese, the burlesque dancing wife of Goth-rocker Marilyn Manson, has come clean on her love of corsets and other retro-style forms of underwear.
Famous for her vintage style, from corsets to stockings and suspenders, the flamboyant beauty has admitted she always wears extravagant garments because they make her feel comfortable, even at home.
"I feel more comfortable in a Fifties slip with a couple of holes in it and a stain on the front than in a pair of sweatpants with 'University of Whatever' on them."
But while she may be happy with her unique style, there is something of a geographical divide as to whether she is a style icon or a fashion victim.
"I've got a collection of worst-dressed lists from magazines that I'm on and they're all in the US, and a bunch of the times I've been on the best-dressed lists and they're all from Europe."
But with the fashion capitals of Paris, Milan and London held in greater esteem than Dallas, Washington or Milwaukee, Dita Von Teese can rest assured her sensual style is one to be mirrored, not mocked.
