Fashion students inspired by corsets
January 23, 2009
Corsets and corset dresses were out in full force at the recent London College of Fashion (LCF) MA show.
The event, which sees postgraduate students present their designs to the world, was heavily influenced by corsets and femininity.
Held at the Raphael Gallery of the V&A Museum, 19 students presented their work to a crowd of industry experts including Zandra Rhodes and Lulu Guinness.
Standout pieces included Mi Hyun Park's collection which used corsets to hark back to a different era. The student teamed corsets with floor-length dresses, which impressed the audience, and nodded to classic French cinema with several other elegant creations.
This use of corsets seems to have caused a stir in the fashion world, with commentators suggesting that Mi Hyun Park is someone to watch in the future.
In related news, Victoria Beckham has been flying the flag for corset dresses after being photographed at Milan Fashion Week wearing a red version of the classic design.
