Former fatty weds in corset
July 24, 2007
Nicola Johnson has told the Sun how she slimmed down by more than five stone and eventually looked good enough to get married in a corset dress.
The 26-year-old from Watton-at-Stone in Hertfordshire told the newspaper that when she was ten years old she already weighed ten stone.
She explained that she was so fat that she got called names such as 'Miss Blobby' and 'Balloon Girl' by the other children at her school.
Although an early visit to both a dietician and her GP had not helped Nicola to lose weight, she decided to drop the pounds when she met the love of her life.
When she got a teaching job she fell for the headmaster, Ron Johnson and decided to lose weight although by this point she was 15 stone.
"I started the Rosemary Conley programme, as it combined diet and exercise," she explained. "On the first day, I stepped on to the scales and winced. But I lost half a stone in the first week, and continued with the regime. I liked the way exercising gave me more energy. Then, just seven months after starting the plan, I weighed myself and gasped. I was now nine stone and eight pounds."
When Ron proposed Nicola's determination had paid off and she was able to wear the corset wedding dress of her dreams. "On our big day, I slipped into [the slinky white corset] dress and gazed at my reflection. 'Bye bye, Balloon Girl,' I thought, blinking back tears of happiness."
