Galliano unveils corset inspired range
July 10, 2009
John Galliano has continued Paris Fashion Week's love affair with the lingerie corset in his latest collection for Christian Dior.
The influential designer launched his autumn/winter range in the French capital and wowed the celebrity-filled audience at Dior's flagship store with numerous corset and suspender belt combinations.
Featuring lingerie as outwear clothes, the London-educated fashion icon dressed models in tulle gowns with black corset tops.
After the show, Galliano described the collection as "more refined" than his previous work and appeared pleased that it was selling "very well", the New York Times reported.
This haute couture show follows Tuesday's event by Christian Lacroix, which was also heavily inspired by burlesque-style corsets and was graced with a corset-adorned Kylie Minogue.
Other fashion labels exhibiting in the world-renowned fashion show included Givenchy and Chanel, which was designed by the eccentric Karl Lagerfeld.
