Hilary Clinton to receive traditional corset
July 17, 2009
The humble corset is going to receive a valuable PR boost on Saturday when Hilary Clinton is expected to be given a traditional Indian version during a visit to Mumbai.
The US secretary of state and wife of Bill Clinton will be given a jewellery-adorned corset to take home by rural handcraft artists in the northern Gujarat's Patan and Kutch districts tomorrow.
Alongside a traditional jacket and a 60-year-old decorative textile piece named a toran, Hilary could surprise her husband by returning to the States with the traditional corset and even spice up her love-life.
Not renowned for her fashion sense - unlike the first lady Michelle Obama - Ms Clinton has recently appeared in Us Magazine critiquing her worst ever outfits.
Among the many and varied contenders for the dubious crown included her wedding dress, a head-to-toe tartan outfit worn on Bill's inauguration day and a Christmas-inspired cardigan.
