Kylie's corset to be cast in bronze?
October 18, 2007
It could be that Londoners may be treated to the sight of Kylie Minogue in a bronze corset, although it would not be the real thing, but a statue, if gay campaigners get their way.
While the gay community may not especially be attracted by the female form in a corset, Kylie is a massive gay icon, and to mark the historically homosexual haunt of London's Old Compton Street in Soho, gay activists insist they want a bronze statue of the pop princess.
A gay group is currently applying for permission to create the statue, although we will have to wait to see if the corset superstar does become immortalised in bronze.
The application sets out a plan to construct the statue on an arch above street level, for reasons that an insider made clear.
A source told the Daily Star: "We don't want her bottom to be worn to a nubbin from daily rubbings from the superstitious and deviant, so we want her most famous area to be out of reach."
He added: "The Eros statue should be in Old Compton Street, not Piccadilly Circus. But were having our very own little goddess of love, in the form of Kylie.
It seems that the pop princess is not the only gay icon that the boys want erected.
"Kylie is our favourite gay icon, so her statue will be erected first. The other names are being held under wraps at the moment," the insider added.
