Kylie's corsets go on display
November 23, 2006
The ever-changing style of Kylie Minogue is the focus of a new exhibition at the Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum from February 2007.
Considered to be one of the foremost style icons of her time, Kylie has been credited with introducing an entire new generation of women to the sensuality of the corset.
And anyone hoping to see the infamous corsets worn on her Showgirls tour in 2004 will not be disappointed, as they, along with some of her other most famous performance costumes, form the backbone of the exhibition.
In addition to the Showgirls corsets there will also be the gold hotpants from her 2000 Spinning Around video, the white hooded jumpsuit worn in the video for the 2001 hit Can't get you out of my head and even the overalls she wore while playing Charlene in Neigbours back in 1988.
Commenting on the exhibition, Kylie said: "The V&A is renowned for its superb fashion and performance collections and there isn't a better place for this exhibition to be launched in the UK.
"I feel honoured to have such an important part of my career, and something so personal to me, being recognised in this way."
The exhibition will also feature accessories, album covers, photographs, music and videos, as well as a backstage area where visitors can see designs, sketchbooks and video footage showing preparations for a Kylie tour.
Following its run at the Victoria & Albert Museum from February 8th to June 10th, Kylie - The Exhibition will display at Manchester Art Gallery from June 30th to September 2nd and Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery from September 21st until January 13th 2008.
