Lord of the Rings debuts with a corset
June 21, 2007
The new Lord of the Rings stage show has opened in London and the lavish costumes include a corset.
Galadriel, played by former Mary Poppins actress Michelle Kelly, dazzles when she arrives on set wearing a golden corset to go with her golden headpiece.
The show is the most expensive production ever to take place in London's West End and it is clear from the opening nights that no expense has been spared on the design of the costumes or the set.
Efforts to transport the amazing world of Tolkien's masterpiece from its recent Hollywood success to the stage have meant a lavish production, full of fantastic scenes and colourful images.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy was a huge box office hit when Tolkien's novels were transformed into film and many are predicting similar success for the stage version, despite some mixed reviews for the opening weekend.
