Michael Douglas in corset shot
October 10, 2007
Michael Douglas has been on the end of the Alison Jackson treatment, with a new coffee table book apparently showing the actor wearing a corset.
The photographer has produced a new book of 'candid camera' moments featuring celebrity look-alikes, including one shot which shows Catherine Zeta-Jones helping husband Michael Douglas into a corset.
Other than the fake corset shot, Confidential features the Queen on the toilet, George Bush and Tony Blair having a shared sauna and Monica Lewinsky lighting a cigar for Bill Clinton.
Ms Jackson writes as a comment in the book: "Likeness becomes real and fantasy touches on the believable. The viewer is suspended in disbelief. I try to highlight the psychological relationship between what we see and what we imagine. This is bound up in our need to look - our voyeurism - and our need to believe."
Her book will launch officially in the UK on October 11th at Philips de Pury & Company. The sight of Michael Douglas in a corset will perhaps confuse anyone who sees it in other media, but in the context of the book, it is to be taken as a playful look at what the public might see if they looked behind closed celebrity doors.
