Pirates looking to corsets
November 1, 2006
The massive success of the Pirates of the Caribbean films could lead to a growth in the desire for corsets, it has been suggested.
Pirate fancy dress parties have become increasingly popular since the Johnny Depp movies were released, as people all over the world have tried to get the sexy, swashbuckling look seen in the films.
And women looking for their own pirate may be able to benefit from wearing a corset when going to a fancy dress party.
"The pirate look is dead sexy on women," explains John Baur, a co-founder of Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Speaking to Canada's Globe and Mail, the pirate enthusiast explains that women should wear a corset as a way to maximise one's "treasure chest".
With the second instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man's Chest, due for release on video in the near future and a third film in the pipeline, it seems likely that the pirate look will be in fashion for some time to come.
