Rocky Horror back in London
January 11, 2007
The Rocky Horror Show - the legendary corset, stockings and suspenders-heavy rock 'n' roll musical - has made its return to the London stage this month.
The cult classic is currently half way through its run at the London Theatre, and stars David Bedella - fresh from Jerry Springer the Opera success - in the lead role of Frank N Furter, the corset-wearing transvestite made famous by Tim Curry in the original stage production and play.
Quoted on the London Theatre's website, the show's original creator Richard O'Brien said that Bedella had filled the role magnificently so far, describing him as: "Beautiful to look at in his high heels and flyaway wig, sings like a dream and is completely in control."
He added that despite the raunchy style of the show, Rocky Horror should receive more respect than some people give it.
"It's not a tacky sex show; it's actually a very funny, witty show if it's done properly. Thankfully they've got it right."
