Scorsese sets sights on Victoria film
February 20, 2007
Corsets are expected to be a prominent feature of Oscar-nominated Martin Scorsese's next film, after it was revealed that he plans to make a biopic of Queen Victoria.
Although known for his love of New York gangster films - with his latest offering The Departed no exception - Scorsese now appears to be favouring the period epic, with the Victorian royal family the chosen subject.
Scorsese is currently nominated for the best director Oscar - an honour that he has failed to win on six previous occasions.
Although casting for the film is yet to be announced, British actress Emily Blunt is rumoured to be in line for the title role, with Victorian-era corsets likely to be a significant part of the young star's costume wardrobe.
She was last seen opposite in Meryl Streep in last year's hit The Devil Wears Prada - showing that she is no stranger to high-society fashion.
