The Duchess costumes on display in London
April 6, 2009
Corsets, gowns and other outfits worn by Keira Knightley in last year's The Duchess have gone on display at Chiswick House in London.
The Oscar-winning costumes will be open to the public everyday until the end of April as part of an exhibition on Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire, played by Knightley in the 2008 film.
Also starring Ralph Fiennes as the emotionally distant Duke of Devonshire, the movie picked by an Academy Award for Best Costume Design at the February ceremony.
A total of 14 outfits will be on display at Chiswick House, which Georgiana once called her "earthly paradise".
The controversial duchess was well known during her time and after for her love of fashion, gambling and politics, as well as her complicated personal life.
Entry to Chiswick House costs £4.20 for adults but admission to the gardens, where the Beatles filmed a couple of their music videos, is free of charge.
