The Last Confederate sees corset action
May 22, 2007
Gwendolyn Edwards has breathed new life into an old tale as she plays Eveline McCord in a true story based on a love affair set during the American Civil War.
The rising star wears a corset to play the role, as the love interest of a stubborn southern Captain played by Julian Adams.
Produced and written by the descendants of the protagonists, The Last Confederate has received 12 awards and has shown at 11 independent film festivals.
Gwen says that the corset is a costume that she particularly enjoys, as she has a fondness for playing in period pieces.
"I've always loved period films since I was a kid, so I'm naturally drawn to the corset roles," she told elites TV.
"The family and this story touched me in an extraordinary way that really motivated me as an actress. Eveline lived the life of a true heroine- so it was an honour getting to crawl around in her skin for a while. And I was very passionate about trying to portray her correctly."
