Wedding corsets 'still popular with British brides'
October 8, 2009
Demand for traditional wedding corsets and romantic gowns remains strong in the UK even among more 'modern' brides.
According to Wedding magazine, old fashioned bridal wear such as lace corsets and full skirts are still popular.
Commenting on the trend, fashion director for the publication Jenny Swire said: "Romance never goes away, ever. There will always be those fairytale gowns.
"It is normally what girls are still going for even though you expect them to be modern brides. They still want to go for the romantic, old fashioned dress."
Earlier this year, Mintel reported that by 2013 brides will be spending no less than £153 million on their wedding dresses alone - an increase of around 20 per cent compared to the average expenditure today.
Celebrity brides who opted for wedding corsets include reality TV star and model Katie Price, style icon Victoria Beckham and former Playboy star Kendra Wilkinson.
