Winter fashion to embrace corset jewellery
September 18, 2009
Corset jewellery looks set to become more popular in the coming months, as trend experts reveal a revived interest in past ornaments and decorative styles.
Matthew Jeatt, UK director for global trend forecasting agency Promostyl, said that "heritage" or retro designs are making a comeback in terms of both mainstream and high-end accessories.
He commented: "Looking back is important but it is not to recreate the past, it is about using the skills and attitudes of the past to create new products.
"We will see a reassessment of material from the past, for example, cast iron and pewter. It is clear to see the use of wood as a precious material is very strong."
According to Mintel, the fashion accessories market grew in value by 4.7 per cent during last year, reaching over £1 billion.
The research also revealed that four in ten Brits regard accessories as being 'very important'.
